I was trying to figure out what to read last night when I realized I hadn't read Marcia's newest book, so I hurried and grabbed it and curled up next to the fire to dive in. I always enjoy her westerns and was looking forward to this one. Briney is an orphan, when she was a young girl she was adopted from her orphanage by an older lady looking for a companion. After ten years of service, her guardian passes away leaving Briney all alone in Colorado. For the first time in her life she is free, on her own and able to make her own choices. While she wasn't ever abused, she also was never shown kindness or given freedom. The first thing on her list of things to do, buy her very own horse! Who better to get it from then the Horseman himself. A local legend in town who has a special way with horses. Gunner Cole takes one look at Briney and is smitten. They have an instant connection and their relationship develops quickly. This was a quick read with some charming moments and likable characters.

Each time I read a book written by Marcia Lynn McClure it makes me believe in love and romance again. I adored Briney from the start and wanted her to be both set free and protected. Gunner Cole, aka The Horseman, is delicious and charming and best of all, he understands Briney and is enchanted by her. I love the love at first sight... between Briney and Sassy! The story is written so wonderfully descriptive that I could feel Sassy's coat and smell the hay and the rain. What I love most about Marcia Lynn McClure's novels is the way they completely take me from my present day life and immerse me in the times and places created so well that I fully escape into the world of the story. I thoroughly loved my visit to Oakmont, Colorado, experiencing the life & times there, and especially the romance of Briney Thress and Gunner Cole. Thank you Marcia!!

3.5 starsI really liked Briney and Gunner. In fact, I liked all the characters we were suppose to like. The story was sweet too. I just felt it was too short, like we were left with unfinished business. Marcia mentions that in her snippets, but I still want to know what happened to everyone else! :)It was a sweet, quick read. If you need a fast Marcia-fix, then this is perfect.

AH, Another fabulous fun read. This one was little deeper than the light hearted ones, which makes it all the more dear to me. I love Marcia's characters. I love that fact that her heroes are always hot and sexy and I love that they always protect and fall in love with the underdog. There is something so right about it and pure about her writing. I LOVED IT!

Super short, very mushy, highly improbable... and just what I needed.

I can't think of a better end to my reading goal for 2015 than a book by my favorite author of all time. :)This was a cute novella, filled with the pure goodness that is Marcia. I am ever so grateful I live in a world where there I have her books to take me from the hard days of life and make me just giggle and lose myself in a short blissful tale. :)

I really liked it. I wish it would have been longer with more detail to some situations. Yes I will read it again and I am glad it's in my collection.

After I read Dusty Britches, I fell in love with this author! I thought DB was much better written than this story, though. I think that is much due to the fact that this is a novella and so there wasn't as much time to develop the characters, so they seemed flat. I felt it was a little unrealistic, seeing that (view spoiler)[ Briney and Gunner get married after knowing each other less than a week (hide spoiler)]. But I loved how clean it was! And I always love horse stories, being an equestrian myself. This reminded me of the magical time when I went searching for my first horse. This paints it all as a bit of a magical thing, which it is, but horses aren't all sunshine and rainbows. If this had been longer, I'm sure it would've developed longer.

I've been on a Marcia kick lately (which isn't all that uncommon) and was able to buy a few of her books that I didn't own already. This was one of them and it didn't disappoint. It left me with the same happy feel good feelings I get whenever I read one of her books! Thanks Marcia!!

Love these fast sweet reads. The action, passion, thoughtfulness, kindness and much more. Love how sweet the main characters found each other and fell in love even if they came from different worlds and their families pasts. Such a good read. Couldn't put it down!

This book got 2 stars because I finished it. The dialogue in this book was often pointless and repetitive, doing nothing to help move the story along. I found myself skimming pages, trying to skip to where the story started progressing forward again. Also, I think if the word "giggle" is used more than once in a chapter, it's too much. Sadly, that word repeatedly appeared multiple times on a single page. McClure certainly isn't the best of writers, but I know her books are clean, so I've found myself turning to her a few times when I need a mindless, escape book that isn't heavy... and that's exactly what I get.

Short and sweet and full of spunk! Briney is such a fun main character! Gunner Cole is perfect for her. This is a quick read that allows us to feel what is was like for Briney in the small western town of Oakmont, CO. She is anxious to discover herself and find her own life after the woman whom she was in servitude to dies. She soon learns her love of horses leads to discovering the man of her dreams. The story line moved along very quickly. I would have liked a bit more detail. I often wonder why the heroes in Marcia's books need to swear, even mildly. Her descriptions are incredible, truly making me feel like I am right there with the characters.

This was short (117 Kindle pages) and sweet. Unlike many of MLM's other novels, our Heroine was a little stronger in this one and not as weepy. With it being a shorter one, things were very rushed and they fell in love in a matter of days. Gunner & Briney were good characters, but that end climax with her cousin I felt was a little ridiculous. Just like it was thrown in there for some kind of drama. Can't have everything end too nicely. Moral Note: Some mild swearing (hecks & dangs) not sure why she has to throw those in there, it drives me crazy. Some mild violence, and mild verbal abuse.

I really liked this book. It was pretty short, so could be read quickly. I started it at night and finished the next afternoon. I liked the way the characters were nonjudgmental of people's background and past that they didn't have control over. I also loved the horses in the story as well as the scenic places the riders were able to ride to!:) Both leading characters were believable, and I liked the way the secondary characters were able to get their happy ending as well.

I am so torn I feel like I am giving a poor review to an author I dearly love. The truth is it just wasn't long enough it had the makings of a fabulous love story, but it ended up being way to short. It isn't one I would really recommend to anyone. Although, it ended up a cute quick read and I will still continue to read all of her books because I am addicted. Also, I love the little notes at the end.

Very niceThis story is great because it pulls an orphan girl into her happy ending. She finds the love and freedom she hasn't had her whole life. With the passing off her guardian she is left alone to find her way. I thought it was wonderful the way she fought for her self against Fletcher children. Britney and Gunner have a great connection and birth love horses. I loved book

I love Marcia! A quick little read, so my problem was that I wanted it fleshed out some. Answer some whys left by the... well, bad guy. Also, insta-love. Marcia does it better than anyone, but it isn't my favorite, so unfortunately I had to take off a star for that. I still love Marcia and will read anything she types out. Give Me More!

I enjoy MLM books. This was a good one, but I wished it was a little longer. I wanted Gunner and Briney's courtship to be a little longer. Still enjoyed it though.
